04/09/2009  -  16/10/2024

DE SHAMEKH - Stallion by two time Australian Champion, ENCOSTA DE LAGO - Sire of G1 winners ALINGHI, CHAUTAUQUA, DELAGO BROM, MANHATTAN RAIN, NORTHERN METEOR, RACING TO WIN and many more!

He is out of a G1 winning SECRET SAVINGS mare - SHAMEKHA! She earnt $1,894,610 in prizemoney and won races including the G1 ALL AGED STAKES, TJ SMITH STAKES, COOLMORE STUD STAKES, G2 TEA ROSE and G3 FURIOUS STAKES in the Emirates Park colours ! She is from a half-sister to Brave Warrior, the sire of Queensland’s four-time champion stallion Show A Heart.

DE SHAMEKH was a $675,000 yearling and bred by EMIRATES PARK and trained by Gai Waterhouse.

He ran 2nd in the INGLIS NURSURY on debut and then backed that run up with a win in the ATC Plate over 1100m. He has produced some nice types and winning horses including Craiglea Karly, Craiglea Lizzy who were both performers at 2!

He produces early types and is a stallion with exceptional bloodlines and a beautiful temperament.

Raced on just four occasions, De Shamekh showed considerable natural talent when in work with champion trainer Gai Waterhouse. Two outings as a 2-year-old witnessed De Shamekh finish a hugely encouraging runner-up on debut at Warwick Farm, before claiming his very next outing at Rosehill Gardens with considerable promise.
Both of De Shamekh's 2-year-old performances stand-up to close scrutiny.
His debut effort saw him claim second place ahead of Flying Snitzel, subsequent winner of the Group 3 ATC The Schweppervesence later in the same season.

His only other outing as a juvenile witnessed him scoring over 1100m by a clear-cut three and a half lengths and in the very respectable winning time of 1m04.34s.
De Shamekh's promising 3-year-old season was badly disrupted with niggling injury issues and a decision was made to retire him to stud.
De Shamekh is the third living foal of Emirates Park's wonderful racemare Shamekha.
A three-time winner at Group 1 level, Shamekha established herself as one of the finest female performers of her generation, winning the Coolmore Classic (G1), TJ Smith Stakes (G1) and All Aged Stakes (G1) in eight career victories.

A daughter of the highly successful Mr Prospector-line stallion Secret Savings (USA), Shamekha was herself produced by a half-sister to Brave Warrior, a Queensland stud sensation before his premature death only two seasons into his stallion career.
In addition to representing a female family responsible for one the most remarkable stud careers seen in Queensland in recent time, De Shamekh offers breeders the opportunity to use a quality son of Encosta de Lago.
